1 – Programme overview

The programme is an external quality assessment programme for semen analysis tests, developed in collaboration with the ARBRE association (Association Rhônalpine des Biologistes de la Reproduction). It provides global assessment of seminograms and cytological semen analysis. It covers 5 parameters:

• Sperm count: using a sample of human semen
• Round cells count (1 survey / year): using a sample of human semen
• Vitality: digitalised smear (eosin – nigrosin) available on our site
• Morphology: digitalised smear (sperm stain) available on our site
• Motility: observed on a on-line video on our site

The clinical context is provided with each sample/smear as well as complementary clinical results (pH, etc.) so that you can propose a diagnostic hypothesis based on your results.

2 – Assessment frequency

Number of surveys per year: 4
Number of control samples per survey: 1 semen sample, 2 digitalised smears and 1 video
Number of samples per year: 4 semen samples, 8 digitalised smears and 4 videos

Seminogram:

• Sperm count
• Round cells count (1 survey / year)
• Vitality
• Motility

Cytological semen analysis :

• Morphology

Following examination, 3 conclusions are provided:

• Conclusion about the seminogram
• Conclusion about the cytological semen analysis
• Global conclusion taking into account other clinical findings

4 – Description of the control samples

Liquid human control semen (ready-to-use, 0.2 mL samples).

5 - Clinical setting

Clinical setting are proposed in each survey .
